Dave Dreiwitz, Ween's Bass player, was born in New York City to jazz musician parents. At the age of 19, Dave joined the Hoboken, New Jersey based psych rock band Tiny Lights, his first band out of high school. In 1986, while attending Rutgers University he met fellow schoolmate and drummer Scott Byrne and started the rock band Instant Death in 1991. Instant Death dissolved with the passing of Byrne in 2005.
It wasn't until 1997, Dave joined Ween. Dave also performs in several other bands. The Led Zeppelin instrumental tribute band, Bustle In Your Hedgerow, occasionally plays bass with Chris Harford and the Band of Changes, The Marco Benevento Trio and Old Rugged Sauce and his own drum and bass duo, Crescent Moon. He has also performed with the Moistboyz, The Gene Ween Band, Andrew Weiss, Russell Batiste, Billy Martin, Lunar Bear Ensemble with John Richey, John Kruth, Peter Stampfel of The Holy Modal Rounders, Fishermen's Stew, Brook Benton, Hal Willner, Sam Shepard, John S. Hall, King Missile (Dog Fly Religion), Jack Petruzzelli, Greg Di Gesu, Robert Musso Trio, Clem Snide, Joan Osborne and Sparklehorse.

Dave also plays the trumpet and tuba.
Dave is probably the most down to earth, nicest guys in the music industry.
Dave is also known as Diamond Dave and Double Dip.
